In the first round of district play, the Champion baseball team thumped Alamo Heights in Boerne via the run rule, 13-0, but on Tuesday it was a different story when the Chargers visited the Mules.
Alamo Heights was able to get some revenge and even the season series with the Chargers after they almost run ruled them, 10-1.
Champion slips to 5-6 in district and is 12-9 overall. The Chargers hosted Veterans Memorial on Thursday.
It was close early in Tuesday’s game after the Mules scored 2 runs in the first and the Chargers were able to answer with a run in the top of the second to make it 2-1, but Champion wasn’t able to score again, while the Mules added 2 in the bottom of the second and another in the third for 5-1 lead.
Heights busted it open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away.
