ADAMEK HAS MIXED EMOTIONS IN RETURN TO GREYHOUND GYM

When the UIL put Boerne High and Boerne Champion in the same basketball district for the first time, it meant that Champion boys coach Chris Adamek would coach against the Greyhounds, a team he played for and helped lead to the state tournament in 1990 under the direction of current Boerne ISD AD Stan Leech. When Adamek walked in Greyhound Gym on Monday, it was as the opposing coach at his old stomping grounds. Adamek said he never imaged he would lead an opposing team from the same town against his former team – Boerne High – the school where four generations of his family have graduated. “I have a lot of great memories here, especially with Coach Leech and my teammates. I have nothing but appreciation and thankfulness for everything Boerne High,” he said. “I never thought it would happen, it’s different coming back, but a lot of great memories.”
