Holidays, playgrounds, making music

Holidays, playgrounds, making music
Heath Library’s Little Listeners enjoy a special trip to the new playground behind the Heath Public Library, 451 N. Main St. The project was sponsored by the charity Make Kids Smile, Inc. and the Altus Group. The PlayWell Group supplied the equipment and gave generously of their time and effort throughout the project. Submitted photo

Playground at the library Come by the library to check out the new playground decorating the library’s back lawn.

Families will be delighted to traverse this new family- friendly jungle gym, perfect for toddlers through elementary-aged kiddos.

After a delightful play on the playscape, come into the library to cool off with a good book or continue stretching your imagination in the youth area play zone!

Seasonal fun at storytime This holiday season you can’t miss out on our fantastic storytimes each week for all different ages.

Grown-ups with littles ages 0-2 can stop by the Community Room on Tuedays and Thursdays to be regaled with delightful, toe-tapping tunes and brief entertaining tales that will begin their little ones’ storytime journey. After tunes and tales, stay for a fantastically fun bubble show.

On Wednesday, come by the library for the Little Listeners storytime geared toward children ages 2-5 years old. Mrs. Constance is sure to put on a fabulous show for her little ones full of fun.

Come ready to sing and dance along with Mrs. Constance to some classic storytime songs as well as listen to some seasonal stories. Last but not least, don’t forget to grab your special seasonal snack before you go.

Seasonal spotlight

On the holiday note, check out the Youth Spotlight Display for a selection of seasonal books perfect for children to tweens. From Halloween to spooky to fall reads, we have it all.

It is important, however, to point out that because of high demand, there is a limit on Halloween books to two per card. If the special seasonal book you want is out, always feel free to put it on reserve so that when it comes back, you are in line to receive it.

Instruments for check-out Some may not know that the library provides a selection of instruments that are available for checkout to library card holders. Stop by to try out an instrument and see if it is the right fit for you or your child.

The library carries a selection of instruments including multiple guitars and ukeleles, a harp, a xylophone or Glockenspiel, an electronic keyboard and a snare drum. When you check out a guitar or ukelele from the library, Heart’s Home Acoustic offers one free 10-minute tutorial on the instrument.

Instruments and music lessons are an expensive investment, but instrument check-out at the library is free for library card holders.

Before spending money on instruments or lessons, check out the fabulous array of instruments we offer to see if one truly interests your child.
