Nothing runs like a Deer as Comfort girls win district title, Bobcat place second at 5-3A meet

Comfort High hosted the District 5-3A meet last week and both the Bobcats and Deer advanced to the Region IV-3A meet scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Corpus Christi.

Comfort’s girls won the district meet, while the Bobcats were second at the event.

The 3A regional meet is Tuesday in Corpus Christi, with the girls competing at 9:15 a.m., and the boys running at 9:45 a.m.

RESULTS Varsity Girls

The 3A girls run a two- mile course and the Comfort Deer won the race with 46 points, Blanco was second (49) and Ingram (65) took third to qualify for regionals.

Florence ( 74) and Brady (108) were fourth and fifth.

Comfort’s Ella Thiele won the race in 12:36 to top the field in the twomile race, Jordan Judkins came in seventh in 14:11 and Harper Cole was one spot back in 14:22 for eighth.

Lexie Womble came in 11th in 14:43, Juana Leon posted a 15:29 for 19th, Olivia Sanchez clocked in at 15:56 for 24th and Jael Hernandez was one spot back in 25th with a 16:02.

Varsity Boys

Florence won the meet with 35 points, Comfort came in second with 66 points and Brady took third, one point behind Comfort at 67 points.

Blanco was fourth (80) and Ingram (81) rounded out the field in fifth.

Jackson Dear was second overall in 16: 43, Hunter Lackey finished sixth in 17:01, Ruben Breceda came in seventh in 17:06, Preston Tomlin placed 24th in 20:38 and Luke Reich recorded a 20:45 for 27th.
