Garrett in concert Oct. 18
Nashville recording artist and Texas native Ronny Dean Garrett will be in concert Oct. 18 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson City Dance Hall, 825 FM 289 in Boerne.
Garrett will be premiering songs from his upcoming — and aptly titled — EP, “Going Home.” Tickets are on sale now at: ronnydeangarrett.com/shows. With music influences ranging from Johnny Cash to hymns to BB King, Garrett’s sound is uniquely his own. As the “son of day workers,” Garrett grew up all over Texas in farming communities. Life has given him a powerful story of overcoming adversity that will leave listeners encouraged.
Designer Hardin reaps awards
Boerne designer Sarah Hardin captured five first-place awards at the recent ASID Pinnacle of Design Awards.
The San Antonio chapter of The American Society of Interior Design Sept. 5 hosted the annual awards at the Summer Classics Showroom. First-time attendee Hardin, owner of Boerne-based interior design firm Sarah Hardin Design, took firsts in five categories: Residential, entire residence under 5,000 square feet; Dining room, new construction; Outdoor living; ‘Powder Room’; and Adaptive reuse/historic preservation/ sustainable design. The awards for dining room, powder room and outdoor living were all from a custom home in Boerne. The historic preservation project is also located on the outskirts of Boerne. The first place for residential is a new construction at Boot Ranch in Fredericksburg.
“The best part of winning these awards is the fact that all three of these projects involved such wonderful friends and clients who trusted me to help them create their vision,” Hardin said.
‘Night Sky’ Friends meet Oct. 26
Members of Kendall County Friends of the Night Sky will meet Oct. 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Singing Waters Vineyards, 316 Mill Dam Road in Comfort, RSVP requested.
A Hill Country Alliance Dark Sky presentation begins at 7 p.m., with suggestions shared about what homeowners can do around their homes to preserve the night sky, and to practice “neighbor- friendly” outdoor lighting. Star gazing will follow.
Amateur astronomers from our Kendall County Friends of the Night Sky will be on hand with their telescopes to share this season’s wonders of our night sky, weather permitting.
