We are one month into the new school year and already there are many wonderful things to celebrate: Bond 2022 project completion; Boerne ISD Core Values; and our continued student success.
Bond 2022
Several projects from the 2022 bond program are complete: Viola Wilson Elementary School, Mitchell Learning Center and the addition of the new health science building at Boerne High School.
Later this fall, the new Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH) classroom addition at Champion High School and the aquatics learning center will open. The library renovations at BISD legacy elementary campuses Cibolo Creek, Curington, Fair Oaks Ranch and Kendall are scheduled to open in January 2025.
As you enjoy football games this fall, several stadium improvements were made possible with the support of the 2022 bond: New turf field containing therma-cool pellets, which can reduce the field temperature by as much as 25 degrees; New track with expanded practice space; New visitor bleachers and concrete pad; and sidewalk and accessibility improvements.
Thank you to the community for your support of the 2022 bond.
Boerne ISD Core Values
We are also pleased to share that our community came together over the summer to reflect on the Boerne ISD experience.
Nearly 100 stakeholders — from students, parents, teachers and administrators to business partners, community members and trustees — engaged in a series of meetings to refine the Boerne ISD core values.
These Core Values define what it means to be BISD. They are: — Every Child, Every Day. We are committed to ensuring every student is engaged, enriched and inspired.
— Respectful Relationships. We build a culture of trust and compassion by actively listening to and learning from others.
Excellence through Integrity. — We hold ourselves and others to high standards.
Commitment to Service. — We are committed to leading, serving and enriching our community.
We look forward to sharing more about our core values throughout the school year.
Student Success
Our students give us plenty of reasons to celebrate. Students at every grade level excelled on the 2024 state exams with overall student scores above state averages. Our graduation rate remains one of the highest in the state and region at 99.4%.
In addition, BISD increased its College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) rate to 90% in 2024, up from 86% in 2023.
BISD also saw an increase at all levels with advanced placement (AP) testing categories, including the number of students enrolled in AP courses, number of AP exams taken and an increase in students who scored a 3 or higher.
Our students excel in advanced courses. The success of our students translated into saving families tuition dollars. During 2023-24, our families saved over a half-million dollars in college course expenses.
Those are just a few of the reasons to celebrate. We know our students and staff will continue to have success all year long.
On behalf of the Boerne ISD board of trustees, our teachers, students and leaders, we thank you for your support. Ensuring the continued success of BISD is my top priority.
