Chargers sweep varsity races at FEAST Invitational

The Boerne Champion varsity cross country teams made it a clean sweep at the 22nd Annual San Antonio Patriots Cross Country Invitational last Saturday.

Both Charger varsity squads captured first place in the Varsity Elite 5K races.

The Lady Chargers also had the top runner in the girls race after Elizabeth Leachman took first by almost 90 seconds.

Champion is off this week and runs next Saturday in San Marcos scheduled to take place at the Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex.

Varsity Girls

The Champion girls won the race with 107 points to beat College Station A&M Consolidated (118) and Katy (122) in the field of 30 teams.

Elizabeth Leachman took first in the race with a time of 16:39, Kynley Albright posted a 19:36 for 17th, Rebecca Bezerra finished in 19:57 for 28th, Addison Graham was two spots back in 30th with a 20:00 and Luciana Zazueta Ibarra was 31st in 20:01.

Madison Mungia ran a 20:17 for 42nd and Payton Baldwin posted a 20:46 for 58th.

Varsity Boys

Champion scored 101 points for first to edge Katy (111) and McAllen (135) in the field of 34 teams.

Charlie Houck finished 3rd individually after he posted a 15:50, Luis Tovar came in 5th in 15:55 for two in the top 5, Caleb Dehart posted a 16:28 for 19th, Shawn Edwards came in 22nd in 16:32, Mason Nelson clocked in at 17:05 for 52nd, William Coover was 56th in 17:14 and Brandon Martinez finished the race in 17:43 for 90th to round out the team.
