Another member of the Boerne Champion volleyball program was honored for reaching a milestone when the Chargers hosted Veterans Memorial to begin district play Tuesday.
Last weekend at the Pieper tourney, Champion head coach Kelly McDaniel celebrated her 100th career win, and on Tuesday, Ella Coleman was honored after the match for reaching 500 career kills.
Coleman used a few of those kills to help the Chargers sweep the Lady Patriots, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.
The Lady Chargers are 1-0 in district and improved to 13-3 overall. Champion is entered in Seguin tourney this weekend.
Coleman led the team in kills with 10, Brielle Boothe and Briley Wolff both added 8 kills, Coleman also paced the team in aces with 3 of the team’s 6, Taylor Fenton came up with 4 blocks, while Cassidy Breuer and Wolff chipped in with 2 blocks apiece.
Boothe had team-high honors in digs with 11, Coleman had 6 digs and Samantha Calderon recorded 5 digs, while Azteca Crawford tallied 33 assists and was closing in on a milestone herself.
