Venezuela defeats Boerne in third-place international game on Sunday

Florida edges Boerne for U.S. Little League World Series championship
The Boerne Little League played for the U.S. Little League title on Saturday.

Venezuela and Boerne squared off in Sunday morning's third-place international game at the Little League World Series and Venezuela held on for the 4-3 win.

Boerne loaded the bases in their last at bat and had two outs, but Venezuela recorded the final put away with a catch by the second baseman on a sharply hit line drive to end it.

Florida scores 9 runs in last two innings to take title game

Boerne looked to be cruising to a win against Florida Saturday at the Little League World Series for the U.S. championship, but the Florida team pulled off an incredible comeback for the 10-7 victory.

Boerne was leading 4-0 through three innings but Florida took the shutout off the board with a run in the fourth. Florida then added 4 more runs in the fourth for the 5-4 lead.

Boerne retook the lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-5 advantage but Florida closed it out with a 5-run sixth inning and had a 10-7 lead at that point.

Boerne had last bats but a strikeout and a double play ended the game.

Boerne finishes as the national runner-ups and fourth-place overall at the international tournament.
