The Boerne ISD tennis teams opened district play Tuesday with the Greyhounds at home against Wagner and Champion on the road at Veterans Memorial.
Both were victorious and start district play at 1-0.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds hosted Wagner and won 10-0. The Thunderbirds only had five players on the whole team, so most of the BHS players had the night off.
The teams played a couple of doubles and singles matches on Tuesday but it wasn’t enough for a full contest and was considered a forfeit win.
Boerne High is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in district. The Hounds hosted Antonian Friday and are scheduled to play in the Kerrville tourney next weekend.
Boerne Champion
The Chargers defeated Veterans Memorial, 18-1, and improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in district.
Champion plays two matches this weekend and hosted McAllen Memorial Friday at BMSS and then plays Abilene High Saturday morning on the Boerne High courts.
Champion visits Smithson Valley Tuesday as they continue league play.
The rest of the Champion home matches will be played at the Greyhound courts since the Charger courts are getting resurfaced again.
