City, school election filing underway

Today launches the 2025 political season, as candidates in city and school elections begin filing for their selected races.

Mayor Frank Ritchie said Tuesday he plans to run for re-election to the post he first won in May 2023. He’s joined by District 2 City Councilwoman Sharon Wright, who verified she plans to run for re-election as well.

A third council seat, Bret Bunker’s District 1 position, will be on the May 3 ballot, as well.

The Boerne Independent School District will see two races on the ballot, including board President Garrett Wilson in Place 5, and Maritza Gonzalez- Cooper, the Place 4 trustee.

Fair Oaks Ranch will have three council seats on the ballot. Those are Place 3, held by Ruben Olvera; Place 4, served by Laura Koerner; and Scott Parker, in Place 5.

Potential candidates for any of the positions have until 5 p.m. Feb. 14 to file their candidacy.
