Geneva School of Boerne won its season opener Tuesday by defeating Providence.
The Provets played better with each set but went down via a sweep to the Eagles, 25-3, 25-6, 25-17.
Geneva starts the year at 1-0 and gives head coach Tami Owens her first win in her return to the team. Owens coached the varsity several years ago and stepped down as the head coach after leading the Eagles to two state championships.
Owens stayed involved with the program over the years and is back as the head coach for this season.
Geneva is playing in the Spike Down tourney in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area this weekend.
The Eagles are home Tuesday to host TMI – Episcopal, 6 p.m.
