Boerne Little League team wins District tourney, heads to Sectionals with eyes on a state bid

The Boerne Little League All-Stars are the Texas West Little League District 26 Champions and capped tournament play with an emphatic 17-0 victory.

The Boerne team plays in the Majors Division (ages 10-to-12) and is off to the Sectional Tournament that started Friday, June 28 in Ingram.

Boerne plays Northern Little League out of San Angelo to open the tourney. The winner of the Sectional Tournament advances to the Texas West State Tournament where only four teams qualify.

At the District tourney, Cooper Hastings, Gray Collins, Caden Guffey, Julian Hurst and Doc Mogford combined for three no-hitters to help the team go undefeated at the tournament.

Boerne also hit eight home runs, including three by Caden Guffey, along with one each from Julian Hurst, Gray Collins, Dylan Burke, Doc Mogford and Jett Matthews as the team outscored their opponents 43-1 in the tourney.

Some of the athletes have played together since they were 4-5 years old and have the opportunity to go deep into the playoffs, something few Boerne teams have done in the past.
