Boerne High grad to play in College World Series

Boerne High graduate Zane Badmaev will play in the NCAA’s College World Series starting this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska, as part of the Texas A&M pitching staff.

Badmaev played for Bill Merrell at Boerne High and graduated in 2018. He was a late-game, closer type for the Greyhounds and has continued with that role in college.

After graduation, Badmaev went to play at Tarleton State University and was there from 2019 – 2023. He transferred to A&M this year where he’s made 16 appearances, thrown 23 innings, has a 3-0 record and is third on the team in saves with one.

Badmaev continued to grow once he left high school and now stands at 6-foot-8 and is 270 pounds.

The Aggies won the Super Regionals and defeated the University of Oregon where Badmaev had the chance to throw.

Texas A&M opens the College World Series this Saturday against the University of Florida on ESPN, 6 p.m.
