Geneva School of Boerne’s Jace Hulett recently took first place at the San Antonio Junior Masters golf tournament.
Hulett, a rising senior at Geneva, finished at 14-under par with rounds of 66, 69 and 64 to win the event, which is one of San Antonio’s biggest junior golf tournaments and drew 120 of the top high school golfers from around the state.
Hulett played well enough in the first two rounds to get into a good position for the third and final round.
In that third round, Hulett shot a 64 to charge to the title. In a four-hole stretch on his back 9, Hulett went 6-under with an eagle, eagle, birdie and birdie, starting on hole No. 12.
The win earned Hulett an automatic invitation to the IMG Academy Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California in July, as well as the Elites Cup Invitational in Irving, in early August.
Hulett is also a two-time state TAPPS champion and his win at state this year earned him a spot for the second consecutive year at the National High School Golf Invitational at the PGA Frisco, in Frisco, Texas in early July.
Also, Hulett was recently named the San Antonio Express-News high school boys’ golfer of the year for the second year in a row.
