Nine Lady Chargers earn all-district honors in girls soccer

A total of nine Boerne Champion girls soccer players were named all-district after their performances during the 2023-24 season.

Two of the Lady Chargers earned superlative awards after senior Ava Slay was selected as the Defender of the Year and freshman Daylynn Carpenter was voted co-Newcomer of the Year.

Junior Lola Vaughan was named to the first team along with senior Reagan Burkey.

Senior Sam Weltens, who was also the school valedictorian, was selected to the second team, along with sophomore Lily Alejo.

Three other Lady Chargers were listed as honorable mention after sophomore Meredith Plank, senior Ashlyn Plank and junior Carsyn Bradley were all named HM. The Lady Chargers finished the year at 11-10-2 overall and went 10-3-1 in 26-5A and were the fourthplace team heading into the playoffs. Champion lost to Leander Lions in the first round of the playoffs, 3-0, in a match held at Dripping Springs.

Champion was led by Alyse Zingelmann, who just completed her first year with the Chargers.
