The Boerne Art Waddle is partnering with Music on the Mile for an event that’s both visually and audibly enjoyable.
The 12th annual Boerne Art Waddle showcases an outside art market throughout Memorial Day Weekend and features a field of 50-plus fine artists and craft artisans on the Hill Country Mile, Boerne’s historic Main Street.
As for “Music On The Mile” — live music from noon to 10 p.m. will set the mood for waddlers on May 25, as the Art Waddle partners with Music on the Mile musicians, featuring 10 venues and more than 20 bands offering a variety of musical genres. For details, see www.musiconthemile.com.
Meet this year’s artists at a Waddle Meet-And-Greet Reception from 4-7 p.m. May 24, co-hosted by Carriage House Gallery, Gallery 195, The Downtown DIY and The Sanctuary for the Vintage Soul, where the Hill Country Mile intersects with Rosewood Avenue.
The artist spotlight for this12th annual Boerne Art Waddle shines brightly on Susan Baker Logrbrinck, whose artwork “Where the Beautiful Bluebonnets Grow” singularly and in toto as a body of work, represents the natural beauty that surrounds us in our Hill Country community.
“There is a spirit here that is undeniably eternal,” Logrbrinck says. “The longhorn, the armadillo, the painted bunting, the monarch butterfly, the Indian blankets and the bluebonnets. Each has a story to tell.
“A story of lovely, rugged enduringness. A story of how you can be tough as nails, and still be so soulfully beautiful. And when they all come together in one scene? Well, it’s undeniably perfect,” she adds.
The art poster created for the event features her recent, free-flow fiber artwork, and has been printed in a limited edition of 100.
Along with individual artists and artisans booths, several students representing the fine arts department of Boerne Independent School District will participate in the 12th annual event.
Student artists featured at the BISD Fine Arts booth will be Emma Barraza, Rowan Berberek, Kalena Holland, Kennedy Holland, Mykala Jones, Joshika Kaipu, Cole McGown, Olivia Norwood, Ella Notzon and Azlie Webster, representing both Boerne and Champion high schools. This partnership provides HCCArts the opportunity to announce its inaugural Fine Arts Mentorship program and we welcome these 10 exhibitors. We encourage you to seek them out to hear about their creative processes and their inspirations.
