CELEBRATING THE ARTS

If you are a resident or frequent visitor to this community, you may know Kristy McNelly as President of The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, and “She-who-provides-hayrides-at Spooktacular.”

Or, if you have attended a Dickens On Main event, you perused an event map, painstakingly created by the ubiquitous graphic designer-Polonyx, LLC — yes, also Kristy.

OR, if you have recently purchased a set of red, white or blue Ground Control Horseshoes, yes indeed, you guessed it — inventor/owner.

And in her spare time Kristy paints, among many other things, horses — she is an integral member of our Hill Country arts community.

A graduate of Michigan State University, McNelly received a bachelor’s degree in geography and a bachelor’s degree in studio art. She also received her cartography specialization certification.

After graduation, Kristy worked for Gousha Publishing Company in Comfort, which eventually sold to Rand McNally. Kristy lives in Bergheim with Zeus, her Tennessee Walking horse, her two llamas, and husband and trusted partner, Chuck McNelly, and their two dogs.

Recently she shared that The Stock Tip, by Kristy McNelly, oil on canvas, was chosen as one of 258 artworks juried into the American Impressionist Society (AIS) fourth annual Associate Member Online Exhibition, from 2,242 artworks submitted.

The awards will be announced on May 29 in a Facebook Live! presentation. AIS was founded in 1998 to promote the appreciation of living American impressionist artists through exhibitions and educational programs.

This is a nonprofit organization with over 2300 active members across the United States. For information, www.americanimpressionistsociety. org.
