4x100 misses out on bronze medal by .01
AUSTIN – The Boerne High boys track team had two relays compete at Thursday’s 4A state meet at Mike Myers Stadium and one of the relays was a blink of an eye away from winning a state medal.
Boerne’s 4x100 relay consisting of Woody Goen, William Freeman, Michael Igbo and Charlie Stahl combined to clock in at 41.11 to finish fourth behind an Aubrey team that turned in a 41.10 to claim third place.
Gilmer won the race in 40.56 and Iowa Colony was second at 40.97.
The Hounds had the fifth-best time coming into Friday afternoon’s race.
Boerne’s fourth-place finish helped the team earn 8 points to tie for 21st in the state with five other squads.
4x200 relay
Boerne’s 4x200 relay of Michael Igbo, Woody Goen, Wyatt Watts and Charlie Stahl placed seventh with a time of 1:28.29.
Gilmer took first with a 1:24.71, Palestine was second in 1:26.13 and Iowa Colony came in third at 1:26.51.
