BHS sending 2 relays, high jumper to state

The Boerne High track and field program qualified two relays and a high jumper to this year’s 4A state track and field meet after their performances at the Region IV-4A meet in Kingsville.

Boerne’s 4x100 and 4x200 boys relays both punched their tickets to state after they were second at regionals and helped the boys to a second-place finish, while Kendall Lemm advances after winning the girls high jump.

The top two finishers at regionals move on to state, while the third-place finishers from all the regions are competing for one wildcard spot based on times and distances.

This year’s 4A state meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 in Austin.

Varsity Girls

The Boerne girls scored 12 points for 17th place in a field where at least 32 teams pointed.

Iowa Colony won the girls regional title with 74 points, followed by Sealy (67) and Fredericksburg (58).

Kendall Lemm scored 10 of Boerne’s points after she won the high jump when she cleared 5-6.

Boerne’s other two points came from Savannah Seibert after she placed 5th in the 400 with a time of 59.62.

Varsity Boys

BHS placed 2nd in the team standings on the boys side with 44 points and 32 of their points came from their two relays.

Iowa Colony ran away with the regional title after they scored 113 points. Stafford and La Feria tied for 3rd with 42 points.

Boerne’s 4x100 of Woody Goen, William Freeman, Michael Igbo and Charlie Stahl finished 2nd with a time of 41.69 and the 4x200 of Igbo, Wyatt Watts, Goen and Stahl also came in 2nd after they combined for a time of 1:28.68.

William Freeman placed

6th in the 100 dash with a time of 11.02 for 1 team point, Charlie Stahl earned

2 points after he was 5th in the 200 with a time of

22.65, Aaron Garcia finished 6th in the 3200 after he posted a 10:10 for 1 team point, while Carsten Bain was 8th in the race at 10:16.

McCoy Bruce clocked in at 14.98 in the 110 hurdles for 5th and 2 more team points and Bruce came in

4th in the 300 hurdles with

a 40.04 for 4 more team points, while Logan Schram picked up 2 more points in the shot put with a toss of

49-08.25 after he was 5th.
