SAN ANTONIO — Both Boerne High soccer teams rolled to the third round of the 4A playoffs after two wins this week and neither has given up a goal in the postseason up to this point.
The BHS girls had a clean sheet against Marble Falls Monday at Dripping Springs and then shut down La Vernia Thursday at Comalander.
The boys blanked Lago Vista Monday at Drip and then shutout Memorial Thursday at Edgewood Stadium.
So far this year, the BHS boys and girls teams have combined for 28 shutouts in their 42 matches.

Varsity Girls
The Boerne girls mashed Marble Falls, 2-0, and then blanked La Vernia 4-0, and improved to 19-1-3 overall.
In Monday’s match, Kailey Stringfellow scored both goals at Drip.
In Thursday’s match vs. the Bears, Stringfellow recorded their first goal and then Bella Pettet tallied the next three the first on a header off a set piece — to record a hat trick.
Tommie Rand then closed out the scoring with a late goal.
BHS has played 23 matches so far this year and shut out their opponents 16 times behind their defense, led by goalkeeper Kinsley Sawyer.
Varsity Boys
The BHS boys blanked Lago Vista on Monday, 4-0, and then broke through late to defeat an upstart Memorial team, 3-0, Thursday at Edgewood Stadium. Boerne is 19-0 and has recorded 12 shutouts this year as goalkeeper Ben Niedecken and the rest of the defense has been tough to score on.
Against the Vikings, Shae Gonzales made a splash in his return and recorded 2 goals and 2 assists, while Gabe Sallick and Brett Hettie knocked in 1 goal apiece.
The Minutemen played Boerne tough on Thursday and didn’t allow a goal until the 33rd minute.
Shae Gonzales put the Hounds on the board for the 1-0 halftime lead.
Early in the second half, Caleb Benchoff scored two minutes in on a cross pass and then Brett Hettie rounded out the scoring six minutes later.
