Boerne High picked up a pair of district wins this week during spring break after the Hound hardballers defeated Fredericksburg and Canyon Lake.
The Greyhounds are 3-0 in district and 13-5 overall. They’ll resume district play at Davenport Tuesday.
Vs. Fredericksburg
BHS beat the Billies, 8-2, and the Hounds didn’t give up a run until Fred scored two in the top of the seventh to erase the shutout.
The Hounds sprinted out of the gate and scored 3 in the first and never trailed from there. They added another in the third, 2 in the fourth and tacked on 2 more in the sixth for the 8-0 lead.
BHS banged out 12 hits including a triple from Dylan Perez, who also singled, while Jace Preston also tripled and singled.
Walker Hill doubled and drove in 2 runs, Reese House singled and scored, Hudson McNew singled, drove in 2 runs and scored twice, Ryan Hooper hit 2 singles, walked twice, pushed in a run and scored 2 runs. Brooks Perez singled, Hutson Hendrix hit 2 singles and picked up an RBI and Jackson Grimes scored 3 runs.
Campbell Jackson went the distance and picked up the win on 95 pitches. He scattered 7 hits, didn’t give up an earned run, walked one and struck out 2.
Vs. Canyon Lake
The Hounds had another fast start and jumped on the Hawks with 6 runs in the first. They scored 2 in the third that Canyon Lake matched to make it 8-2 at the end of three innings.
BHS responded with 4 runs in the fourth and another in the fifth. After the Hawks didn’t score in the bottom of the fifth, the mercy rule kicked in.
Boerne recorded 10 hits and had several strong performances at the plate.
Hutson Hendrix had some timely hits and knocked out 2 singles to drive in 4 runs and he scored once. Dylan Perez tripled and doubled, pushed in 3 runs and walked once, while Grant Tamplet and Walker Hill both doubled.
Hill also singled, walked, picked up an RBI and plated 3 runs, while Tamplet also walked, drove in a run and scored once, while Brooks Perez singled, took 2 walks and scored 3 runs.
Hudson McNew singled, walked, pushed in a run and scored twice, Ryan Hooper singled and scored, Drew Coronado and Jake Perez both plated single runs.
Jackson Grimes went the distance on the bump and gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and struck out 6 to get the win on 72 pitches.
