An Excelled Montessori Preschool teacher started his Thanksgiving holiday behind bars after being accused of assaulting three 2-year-old children, investigators said.
Bexar County sheriff ’s deputies arrested Alfredo Xavier Marmolejo, 29, at the school in the 27500 block of Interstate 10 in Boerne Tuesday afternoon, according to a social-media post.
After he was taken into custody by the Sheriff ’s Top Offenders Program, or STOP, Marmolejo was booked into the Bexar County Jail on warrants charging him with three counts of injury to a child, officials said.
Bond information was not available at press time.
According to officials, child-safe investigators sent to the school were provided with video surveillance taken from inside a classroom showing a man using force on the students.
The man is seen grabbing a 2-year-old by the arm, pointing his finger at the child’s face, dragging the child by the arm, picking up the youngster and then slamming the child down onto a chair, according to reports.
The man is then captured on the footage slapping another 2-year-old on the back of the head with his hand, causing the child to fall to the floor.
The surveillance video then shows the adult move toward the back of the classroom and walk directly into a third 2-year-old child, causing the youngster to hit his head on a table and fall to the floor. ta When investigators initially questioned the man, he reportedly told them, “I did not think what happened in the classroom was that bad.”
He later told deputies his “emotions got the best of him,” according to reports.
