Boerne Champion opened its track season at the beginning of the month at the Northside Meet where Elizabeth Leachman set a national record in the girls 3200.
Leachman posted a time of 9:45.57 to beat the old mark by two seconds. Her performance helped the team to a 1st-place showing after the Lady Chargers scored 147 points, while the boys also captured 1st with 173 points.
The Chargers were also at the first of two BISD relays last week, one hosted by Champion and the other by BHS this week. This Thursday’s meet will be hosted by the Greyhounds.
RESULTS Girls (Top 6)
Leachman won the 3200 in 9:45.57 and Kynley Albright was 4th in 11:58. Leachman also won the 800 with a time of 2:13.97 and Emma Rice was 6th in 2:27.76, while Albright took 1st in the 1600 after posting a 5:26.31.
Madison Meinke won the 100 dash in 12.79, Ella Bachman was first in the 100 hurdles in 17.12 and Kinsley Graff placed 3rd in 18.73, while Bachman was also 3rd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.14.
The girls 4x100 relay of Madison Meinke, Juliana Syroney, Holly Winkenhower and Kinsley Graff placed 2nd in 49.76.
Meinke, Savannah Wayment, Winkenhower and Erin Martin came up 2nd in the 4x200 with a time of 1:49.56, while the 4x400 of Martin, Winkenhower, Grace Mondini and Reagan Burkey teamed up for 6th at 4:33.
Hailee Goodwin won the shot put with a toss of 31-10.50 and Cameron Wampler was 3rd in 29-04.50, while Goodwin also came up 6th in the discus with a toss of 83-02.
Erin Martin was 6th in the high jump after she cleared 4-10.
Peyton Smith won the pole vault after she cleared 11-03 and Vivian Cardenas was 3rd, Erin Martin won the long jump with a leap of 16-02 and Savannah Wayment was 3rd at 15-06, while Grace Mondini was 3rd in the triple jump after she went 31-10.25.
Boys (Top 6)
Joshua Hierholzer and Zach Garcia went 3rd and 4th in the 100 dash after Hierholzer posted an 11.51 and Garcia recorded an 11.53.
Sawyer Bolli finished 3rd in the 200 after clocking in at 22.94 and Garcia was 6th at 23.93.
Robert Wegleitner was 5th in the 400 at 54.97, Noah Perez came in 3rd in the 800 with a time of 2:09, Luis Tovar finished 2nd in the 1600 after he ran a 4:28, while Sean Edwards was 3rd in 4:43.
Charlie Houck placed 3rd in the 3200 with a time of 10:19 and Brandon Karbowski was 5th in the 110 hurdles with a 16.41.
The Champion 4x100 relay of Jamarri Bowie, Hayden Brace, Sawyer Bolli and Joshua Hierholzer captured 1st place with a time of 42.60, the 4x200 of Bowie, Brace, Bolli and Michael O’Hare teamed up for 2nd after clocking in at 1:30, and the 4x400 of O’Hare, Brace, Bowie and Benton Warrick was 3rd in 3:32.
Riley Wampler won the shot put with a throw of 50-08.50, Nico Lopez was 3rd in 44-08.50, while Wampler was 2nd in the discus with a toss of 160-03.
Corben Cutcher and Robert Wegleitner went 5-6 in the high jump but Cutcher did it in fewer attempts so he tied for fourth and Wegleitner was 6th.
Luke Rossi and Landon Kolacny went 1-2 in the pole vault after they both cleared 14-0 with Rossi taking 1st and Kolacny finishing 2nd.
Hayden Brace placed 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 21-05.50, Joshua Hierholzer was one spot back in 3rd at 20-04, while Brace won the triple jump with a measurement of 43-08.75 and Hierholzer was 3rd in 42-10.50.
