BHS cheer places 3rd at UIL state competition

Boerne High School Cheer stepped off the sidelines and into the spotlight to show off their school spirit at the Texas UIL cheerleading Spirit State Championship held Friday, Jan. 5, in Austin.

The BHS squad performed a three-minute routine that was comprised of a cheer, band chant and fight song that was good enough to qualify them for the finals of the competition.

After last year’s 11th-place finalist showing, the team set their sights on making the podium this year with a Top 3 finish.

The cheerleaders achieved their goal and received the bronze in 4A, Division 1.

Coach Kimberly Skok stated, “Last year the team set a goal to be finalists. This achievement gave them the confidence they needed to set a new goal to be in the Top 3 this year. Their hard work and determination really showed when they stepped on the mat. I am so proud of how they worked together to accomplish this goal.”

This is an all-time best result in school and district history in UIL Cheer competition.
