Robert Vrana

Vrana

February 26, 1938 – November 19, 2023

Robert William Vrana, 85, of Boerne, passed away on November 19, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born in Poteet on February 26, 1938, to Adolph W. Vrana and Marie Lanik Vrana, their third of four children.

Growing up in Dobrowolski, Texas, Robert was a popular and social student with a passion for sports. He played varsity football, baseball, basketball, and ran track for Charlotte Public School where he graduated in 1956. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University.

It was there that he met his future wife and love of his life, Sandra Jane O’Neal. On December 28, 1963, the two married in Bay City and settled in Houston to begin their life together.

Always family oriented, Robert was a devoted father to his two daughters. He enjoyed a long and successful career working for a legal publishing company before pursuing his dream of starting his own publishing business.

After selling the company in 1999 the couple moved to Boerne. In their free time, the family enjoyed weekends at their ranch entertaining friends and extended family.

Robert was a man of deep faith who loved nature and traveling across the United States, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his best buddy, grandson Garrett.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Kelly Vrana; daughter, Shannon Barnett and husband, Clayton; grandson, Garrett Wallace; and multiple nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Poe; and his brothers, Rudy Vrana and Richard Vrana.

A visitation was scheduled for Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 4 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was conducted on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, followed by the interment at the St Matthews Catholic Cemetery in Jourdanton, TX, at 3:30 p.m.
