Boerne ISD tennis teams cruise in

1st round of playoffs

SAN ANTONIO – Both the Boerne High and Boerne Champion tennis teams opened their respective playoffs this week and both the Chargers and Greyhounds easily rolled by their opponents to advance to the next round.

Boerne High

The Greyhounds pounded Pleasanton Monday at the Blossom courts, 19-0, to advance to the second round Thursday against Port Lavaca- Calhoun in Beeville.

The Sandcrabs beat West Columbia Tuesday to advance to the second round to face BHS.

The winner of Thursday’s match in Beeville faces the winner of the Davenport – Beeville Jones match up in the third round early this coming week.

The Hounds are 12-3 after Tuesday’s win.

Boerne Champion

Champion didn’t have to go very far to get its firstround playoff win over Leander Glenn after they hosted the Grizzlies Tuesday at the Charger tennis courts.

Champion clinched the match and then played out the rest of the matches on its way to an 18-1 victory. The Chargers are 13-4 overall after Tuesday’s win.

Champion was scheduled to play MacArthur Friday at Blossom in second-round action. The winner plays the winner of the Leander – Southwest match up early this coming week in the third round.
