Chargers able to split series with Seguin

Boerne Champion hosted Seguin last Friday and was able to get some revenge on the Lady Matadors.

Champion lost to Seguin in the first round but was able to defeat the Matadors in the second round Friday at Charger Gym to split their two district games.

In their first meeting with Seguin, the Matadors swept the Lady Chargers but on Friday, Champion won in four sets, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18.

They are tied with Seguin for fifth place in the district behind NB Canyon, Kerrville Tivy, Pieper and Smithson Valley.

The Lady Chargers are 20-15 overall and 4-5 in district. They’ll visit New Braunfels Canyon Tuesday and play at Wagner Friday.

Four Chargers finished with 9 kills each after Taylor Fenton, Cassidy Breuer, Briley Wolff and Brielle Boothe all tallied 9 kills.

Boothe served up 3 aces and came up with 9 digs, Wolff dropped in 2 aces, Fenton had 3 blocks, while Raylynn Pitts added 9 digs, Azteca Crawford came up with 8 digs, Ryann Michalec tallied 7 digs and Addy Schiffelbein chipped in with 6 digs.

Crawford recorded a team-high 25 assists and Michalec added 12 assists.
