Martha Tucker Healy, age 82, born in San Antonio, Texas on August 12, 1941, went to her heavenly home on October 6, 2023. She was under the comforting and loving care of her granddaughter, Rita, and her husband Jimmy Rowe in North Texas.
After Martha graduated from Boerne High School in 1959, she joined the United States Navy and became an air traffic controller based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Following her honorable discharge on March 31, 1961, she lived in Boerne for 20 years where she raised her family.
Later she lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, prior to her retirement in north Texas.
During her years in Boerne she managed Kendall County Abstract and at that time was chosen to be on the founding Board of Governors of Fair Oaks Ranch Golf and Country Club. Martha later managed an independent oil and gas company in San Antonio and held a Texas Real Estate Brokers license.
In the last decade of her life she was an active volunteer with the Colleyville Lions Club and a volunteer at Baylor Scott and White Grapevine Hospital, where she worked in the gift shop; in 2016 her peers voted her Volunteer of the Year.
Martha was beloved by her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who called her Mimi and were her crowning glory.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwardo Antonio Saldana and Martha Magdalena Stewart; her brother, Walter Saldana, and sister, Argentina Bradley; her infant son, Joseph Taylor Tucker; her late husband, William Healy; and her former husband, Jerry Ralph Tucker, the father of her children.
She is survived by her daughters Ramona Tucker of Fort Worth, Texas, and Naomi Denley and husband David of Colleyville, Texas; grandchildren Rita Rowe and husband Jimmy, Loni Connell and husband Jimmy Flete, Morgan Connell, Sidney Connell and Dylan Connell; great-grandchildren Presley Flete and Silas Bryce; and three sisters, Esperanza Kientz, Margaret Riess and Bita Rosenbusch.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 27, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas at 12:30 p.m. The interment service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Boerne Cemetery at the Columbarium.
