Helen Rose Clouse was called home to God on May 17, 2023, at 87 years of age.
Helen was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to Herman and Rosa Vinson. As a child, she lived in Panama and abroad while her father managed the operation of large textile mills. She graduated with the Aberdeen High School Class of 1953.
Helen was an outstanding student. She attended Women’s College of North Carolina and Mary Hardin Baylor University. While living in Texas she met a young Air Force officer who became the love of her life. Helen and Ed Clouse were happily married for 59 years before he preceded her in death in 2014.
Helen reveled in family - her four children kept her busy as they grew, especially when Ed was away on long military deployments. She found the time to serve as a Candy Striper and substitute teacher.
Helen was an active member of Saint John Lutheran Church in Boerne Tx since 1973. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as raising animals, ranching, gardening, camping, or Volksmarching. She enjoyed working with the Boerne Historical Society. Once Ed retired from the US Air Force, they traveled the back roads of America together.
In addition to her parents and husband Ed, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph.
Helen is survived by her children Donna (Mike) Turner, Steven (Geri) Clouse, Barbara (Bill) Nelson, and Darryl (Teresa) Clouse. She also leaves six loving grandchildren: Madeline (Matt) Kelly, Zach Clouse, Travis Nelson, Kendall Nelson, Braxton Clouse and Briley Clouse.
Services to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at Saint John Lutheran Church in Boerne on May 24 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Helen’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or the Saint Gabriel’s Hospice Care. To leave condolences for the family, please visit www.ebensberger-fisher. com.
