The 2023 spring golf season will continue for the Boerne High boys after the Greyhounds took 1st place at the regional tournament in Victoria and also had the top two individual finishers in Price Hill and Braden Baize.
The Boerne girls finished sixth at regionals and had their season come to an end since only the top three teams at regionals move on to state.
UIL state golf is held at various locations around the state in mid to late May and the BHS boys will play at the 4A state tourney on May 22-23 at the Legends Golf Course.
Varsity Boys
The Boerne High boys won the region and will play at state after the Greyhounds shot a two-day score of 600 with rounds of 308 and 292. Bellville was second at 635 (314,321) and Wimberley was third at 645 (329,316) to qualify for state in the field of 14 teams.
Boerne’s Price Hill won the region and shot a 136 with rounds of 70 and 66 and was the only golfer to finish under par, while Braden Baize was second individually with rounds of 73 and 71 for a 144.
Jordan Smith tied for 12th after he shot a 158 with rounds of 82 and 76, Cole Gentry carded a 162 with rounds of 79 and 83, while Jaxon Baize scored a 177 with rounds of 87 and 90.
Also at the district tournament, the boys took first and Hill was the individual championship, while Braden Baize was third overall.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Hounds turned in rounds of 377 and 407 for a two-day score of 784 and were two strokes away from finishing fourth.
Davenport won the region with a 668 (329,339), Calallen placed 2nd at 726 (358,368,) and Devine was third at 773 (388,385). Uvalde and Bellville both shot 783s, both one stroke ahead of the Lady Hounds at 784.
Boerne’s Rhyann Tuschinski turned in the best score for the Lady Hounds after she was 19th with a 187 with rounds of 90 and 97, Hannah Vance carded a 191 with rounds of 93 and 98, Alex Casas scored a 205 after shooting 116 and an 89, Ria Patel scored a 211 with rounds 111 and 100 and Jillian Balderas finished with a 217 after carding rounds 106 and 111.
The Lady Greyhounds also finished second at district to qualify for regionals.
