The Geneva School of Boerne picked up a pair of wins against Providence High School out of San Antonio recently.
Geneva won the games, 13-3, and 10-0, after dominating both contests and kicking in the mercy rule in both contests.
The Eagles are 2-1 after sacking SACS in the season opener. Geneva is off until after spring break and returns to action on Tuesday, March 21, against Incarnate Word Corpus Christi.
Game 1
In the 13-3 win, the Eagles tallied runs in all five innings and had a fast start with 3 in the first and 7 in the second. Providence tallied 2 in the second and another in the fifth, while Geneva scored single runs in the final three frames.
Madeline Egbert finished 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run, 2 doubles and RBI, while Egbert also picked up the win from the circle after she gave up 5 hits and struck out 6.
Maegan Riebel hit a 2-run homer in the second inning, Reese Smith went 3 for 3 and picked up an RBI, Trinity Cloud was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Brynn Riebel scored twice.
Game 2
Geneva didn’t allow a run in the second game and picked up the 10-0 win in five frames.
The Eagles took control early with 6 runs in the second, followed by 3 in the third and fourth frames and then didn’t have to bat in the fifth.
Trinity Cloud had a good day at the plate and went 2 for 3 with a triple and she also drove in 3 runs, while Brynn Riebel went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Kate Friesenhahn was also 2 for 3 with a double, drove in a run and scored two times.
Tessa Murphy earned the shutout win from the circle and only gave up 3 hits, while fanning 4.
