Both the Boerne High and Champion track and field teams hosted track meets at Boerne ISD Stadium to start the season.
The results that ran in last weekend’s Boerne Star were of the second meet. The following are from the first meet. The results were inadvertently mixed up.
Last week, the Chargers were at Somerset and won’t compete again until after spring break when they visit Alamo Heights.
BHS was at Davenport last week and returns to competition next week at Devine.
RESULTS
Girls Varsity
Champion’s Vanesa Gonzalez won the 100 in 12-flat, while Madison Meinke took 2nd after running a 12.64 and Juliana Syroney was 6th at 12.95.
Charger Mariela Gonzalez took the 1st in the 200 with a time of 25.38 and Erin Fallon was 3rd at 26.47.
Destiney Rose of Champion placed 2nd in the 400 after clocking in at 1:02, while Reagan Burkey finished 4th with a 1:04. Charger Emma Rice took 3rd in the 800 with a time of 2:25 and Rose was 6th in 2:31.
Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman won the 1600 and Josey Whitaker was 2nd with times of 4:58 and 5:15, while Kynley Albright was 6th in 5:29 and Emma Rice 7th at 5:34.
Charger Grace Flores won the 3200 after posting an 11:53 and Boerne’s Eleanor Davis finished 4th with an 11:57.
Addison Hankins of Champion won the 100 hurdles after posting a time of 15.96 and Larysa Green was 6th at 18:06.
Kendall Fallon won the 300 hurdles with a 46.79 and Hankins was 2nd after recording a 47.31, while Maddie Gerbes of BHS came in 5th at 51.23.
Champion won the 4x100 with a 48.44, BHS was 4th in 51.91, the Chargers also captured 1st in the 4x200 with a 1:42 and Boerne was 4th at 1:49, while Champion swept the relays after they won the 4x400 after posting a 4:05, while Boerne was 4th at 4:23.
The Lady Chargers also won the distance medley relay after they turned in a time of 12:31.
Kendall Lemm of Boerne won the high jump with a leap of 5-4, Prisca Igbo took 5th at 4-10 and Champion’s Erin Martin was 6th at 4-10.
Greyhound Savannah Seibert placed 2nd in the long jump with a measurement of 16-05.5, while Charger Carsyn Bradley came in 2nd in the triple jump with a hop, skip and a jump of 34-04.5.
Peyton Smith of CHS finished 2nd in the pole vault after vaulting 10-0 and Boerne’s Kayuki Warren was 6th at 9-0.
Boerne’s Tori Adams won the discus with a toss of 135-11 and Champion’s Hailee Goodwin came in 6th with a toss of 96-10, while Adams also won the shot put with a throw of 42-01.50, Goodwin was 3rd with a heave of 33-05.50 and Lorena Barreiro-Bidot finished 4th with a toss of 32-06.50.
Boys Varsity
Champion’s Arlis Adickes won the 100 in an 11.19, while Ranger Lewis and Landon Heckman were 3-4 with times of 11.35 and 11.41, while Corbin Mitchell was 6th in 11.58 and Boerne’s Will Freeman was 5th in 11.55.
Charger Landon Heckman placed 6th in the 200 with a 23.67, Hayden Brace won the 400 in 53.12, and Robert Wegleitner was 4th in 55.05.
Champion’s Luis Tovar took 1st in the 800 with a 1:59, Caleb Dehart was 3rd in 2:01, while Tovar placed 4th in the 1600 in 4:35 and Charlie Houck came in 5th in 4:38.
Houck was also 3rd in the 3200 after clocking in at 10:00 and teammate Ben Matamoros was 6th in 10:28, while Tayson Farar of BHS was 5th in 10:27.
In the 110 hurdles, Champion’s Ben Blomqvist finished 2nd with a 15.22 and Brandon Karbowski was 6th in 17.14, while Boerne’s McCoy Bruce placed 3rd with a 16.20 and Hudson Bruce came in 5th with a 16.50.
Blomqvist won the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.35 and Boerne’s McCoy Bruce came in 5th in 42.68.
The Chargers 4x100 relay captured 1st with a 43.39 and the Hounds were 2nd at 43.41. Champion placed 2nd in the 4x200 with a 1:32 and BHS was 5th with a 1:33.
Also, in the 4x200, the Chargers were 1st with a 3:26 and Boerne placed 4th in 3:36. Champion came in 3rd in the varsity distance medley relay after posting a 12:07.
Champion’s Ben Blomqvist recorded another 1st-place finish after he won the high jump after clearing 6-0, while Griffin Jones and Robert Wegleitner went 4-5 after both cleared at 5-8.
Joshua Hierholzer went 21-10 in the long jump for 2nd and Hayden Brace was 4th with a 21-6.
Hierholzer also placed in the triple jump after he took 2nd with a measurement of 43-02.5 and Brace was 3rd at 41-10.5.
Luke Rossi and Brooks Jones of Champion were 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault after both cleared 14-0.
In the discus, Connor Warzecha and Riley Wampler went 3-4 with throws of 164-05 and 14803. Wampler also scored points in the shot after he was 2nd with a 47-07.25, while BHS’s Logan Schramm came in 4th at 46-11.5 and Kaden Fisher was 5th in 44-07.5.
