Margaret Reese Shepherd

Shepherd

Shepherd

April 15, 1939 – February 27, 2023

Margaret Reese Shepherd loved to watch the deer and birds through her Hill Country window and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. In her younger years, she was a business owner and an entrepreneur, and in retirement she was a doting grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Margaret died peacefully at her home in Boerne, Texas, Feb. 27 with her two daughters at her side after a long battle with COPD. She was 83. Margaret was born April 15, 1939, in Calhoun, Georgia. She moved to Dallas in 1959 where she married and raised her 4 children. Early on, Margaret owned a clothing store, Reese’s of Richardson, before settling into the design field where she worked in the custom upholstery and fabric business with her sister. When her kids were young, she loved to sew clothes for them and make costumes. Margaret was always game to head to the casino to play the slots or go to the horse races with friends and family.

After spending most of her adult life in Dallas, Margaret moved to Boerne to live next door to daughter Stephanie and her family in 2020. During the holidays, everyone would gather and play games which she loved. Once Margaret discovered napping, she always enjoyed having Stephanie and Brad’s pups come over and nap with her. Her favorite meal of the day was dinner and Brad loved to cook for her. She would play the food critic, often telling him not to lose that recipe and sending us pictures of her clean plate. She was happy, content and will be greatly missed.

Margaret is proceeded in death by her parents Ralph and Inez Reese, two of her children, Stori Shepherd Hughes and Forrest Steele Shepherd and brothers, Grady and Jack Reese. She is survived by her daughters, April Emrie (Ted Emrie), Stephanie Schneider (Brad Schneider), grandchildren, Mason, Taylor, Avery, Kendall and Michaela as well as her sisters, Barbara Childress of Dallas, Carol Childress and Ann Reese of Calhoun, Georgia, many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends Linda Long, Carolyn Davis and so many more.
