Lady Eagles stay unbeaten in league play

The No. 2 stateranked Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team rolled to a big win over Holy Cross on Friday night.

Geneva crowned the Lady Knights, 68-33, and improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in district. They played Monday against Brentwood Christian at 5 p.m.

Holy Cross hung with the Eagles for about a half and that was about it in last Friday’s game.

Geneva was leading 15-11 after one and then took the second quarter, 16-10, for the 31- 21 halftime lead.

After that, it was all Eagles.

Geneva won the third quarter, 15-5, and claimed the fourth period, 22-7, to outscore the Knights in the second half, 37-12.

Maegan Riebel had a great night and paced the Eagles team with a career- high 34 points, while Madeline Egbert and Kyra Petty both netted 8 points apiece.

Brynn Riebel finished with 5, Hailey Kirchner had 4, Lindsay Lee scored 3, while Tessa Murphy and Sopris Oglesby both chipped in with 2.

Petty came up with 8 steals, while Brynn Riebel had 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
