Delmar Joseph Egli died peacefully in Boerne, Texas, on December 26, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born on March 23, 1927 to Edna (Baughman) and Dan Egli in Bloomington, Illinois, and grew up in Hopedale.

Delmar Joseph Egli died peacefully in Boerne, Texas, on December 26, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born on March 23, 1927 to Edna (Baughman) and Dan Egli in Bloomington, Illinois, and grew up in Hopedale. At the age of 17, he left high school to enlist in the United States Navy. After WWII, Delmar used the GI bill to attain a B.S. and a Master of Science degrees in Education from Illinois State University. He taught American History at Bremen High School in Midlothian, Illinois for

35 years before retiring in 1985. Delmar married Mildred Doris Rogers from Zearing, Iowa in 1960. They settled in Oak Forest, Illinois where they raised their three children. In 1965 Delmar and Mildred purchased a one room log cabin on Lake of The Woods in Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada. It is here that Delmar brought his family every summer to enjoy nature, fishing, and martinis and cigars on the deck. He became dear friends with his Canadian neighbors and convinced other Illinois schoolteachers to visit and even purchase cabins of their own. Summers at the cabin continue to be an annual tradition for the entire family. Delmar was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and sister Doris (Sutter). He is survived by his son David (Saida) Egli and their daughter Saida Marlena of Austin; daughter Karen (John) Tabor and their children John, Kathryn, Daniel and Joanne of Boerne; and daughterJoAnn (Jody) Williams and their children Joey and Cuddy. Delmar will be remembered for his calm demeanor, humble nature, gentle spirit and a life well lived.
