Boerne Champion’s mastery of boys basketball teams from the Northside district continued on Friday night as the Chargers defeated its fifth NS squad this year.
Champion thumped Sotomayor Friday in San Antonio, 53-34, and improved to 15- 1 this season.
The Chargers will take a long break and won’t play again until they help to co-host the Boerne ISD Tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 27-28.
Champion has now defeated 6A Northside schools Taft, Jay, Marshall, Holmes and Sotomayor.
The Chargers were trying to move the game to Saturday because the district was closed on Friday on account of the Greyhound football team playing in the state championship game but NS didn’t want to move it so they had to play Friday.
Braden Baum paced the Chargers with 25 points and 6 rebounds, Quinn Grable finished with 7 points after he knocked down two 3-pointers, while Jackson Marshall also made a pair of 3s to finish with 6 points.
