The Boerne Champion girls were entered in the Jimmy K Classic at New Braunfels Canyon over the weekend and turned in a perfect record of 4-0.
Champion improves its record to 11-3 overall and has won six straight. Because of the nature of the tournament, the teams just played a guaranteed number of games and didn’t play for placement.
Also, because of how the tourney was structured, there were no all-tournament selections.
Champion was off Tuesday and plays Cuero next, but the game was moved from Friday to Saturday. The Gobblers football team is playing in the state semifinals on Friday at the Dome at 3 p.m., right before the Boerne game, so the Chargers have agreed to move the game to Saturday at 11 a.m. in Cuero.
At the tourney, the Lady Chargers opened the event last Thursday with a close win over Liberty Christian from Argyle, 42-40.
Champion returned on Friday and charged past the Churchill Chargers, 57-34.
Later in the day on Friday, Champion roughed up Rouse from Leander, 63-44.
The Lady Chargers had one more game on Saturday and defeated Del Valle, 48-19, to close out the event at 4-0.
