The Boerne High boys basketball team continued its season Monday in San Antonio against John Jay at Taylor Field House and tamed the Mustangs.
BHS defeated Jay, 70-52, and improves to 3-0. The Greyhounds are entered in the Southwest ISD Tournament this weekend that started Thursday and continues through Saturday.
Jay was actually leading 12-11 at the end of the first quarter but the Hounds outscored the Mustangs in the second, 14-10, for the 25-22 lead at the break.
Boerne heated up in the second half and played well. They hit for 24 in the third and 21 in the fourth for 45 points over the final two periods, while Jay tallied 30 with 15 and 15.
Barrett Pape paced BHS in four different categories after he finished with 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting and made it a double-double with 10 rebounds and also had a team-high 7 assists and 3 steals.
Sam Holland dropped in 13 points and was 3 of 5 from the 3-point line, Casen Hoegemeyer netted 12 points and Trevor Agarwal was the fourth Greyhound in double digits with 10 points.
Colton Hoegemeyer was a point shy of double digits and finished with 9 and Nic Hernandez chipped in with 5 points.
Colton Hoegemeyer grabbed 8 rebounds and a block, whileAgarwal snagged 7 boards.
