From an active retiree looking to fill their newfound leisure time through supporting a homebound neighbor relying on a daily wellness check and delivery of a hot meal, The Center (formerly Rainbow Senior Center at Kronkosky Place) promotes opportunities to live longer and healthier lives. As we approach the end of 2022, we need your support to ensure we feed every older adult in need this holiday season. The Center has a vast reach with a personal impact on the daily lives of older adults through services and programs designed specifically to connect older adults to vital resources.
Recently, one of our transportation staff was visiting Mary, a regular rider through the program. Mary said” Did you know that if you didn’t come pick me up every day, all I would do is sit alone, and look out the window?” Every morning, Mary calls The Center to make a reservation at Kronkosky Place for lunch with her friends, to share a nutritious meal and companionship.
Programs supported by The Center help older adults live well as they age well by building connections, renewing purpose and empowering independence. Here is a look at some of our stats from 2022.
• Kronkosky Place (Activity Center) – 36,254 check ins and 17,337 meals served • Meals on Wheels Kendall County–61,275mealsdelivered
• Transportation Services – 5,270 rides provided
• Medical Loan Closet – 500 pieces of equipment loaned
• Volunteerism – 250 volunteers serving over 16,000 hours Without The Center, many older adults in our community would remain isolated and alone without anyone checking on them. Through your generosity this holiday season, together we can help our older adults like Mary, feel connected instead of forgotten and alone in their home looking out the window – waiting.
