Mr. James “Jimmy” Douglas Schuchardt of Fredericksburg passed away on Thursday, November 24th at the age of 81 years.

James “Jimmy” Douglas Schuchardt was born on January 11th, 1941 in Boerne, Texas to Roy Frank and Martha M. Werner Schuchardt He married Joyce M. Pressler on June 24th,1961 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Comfort James “Jimmy” Schuchardt is survived by his wife: Joyce Pressler Schuchardt of Fredericksburg Three daughters: Deborah and Darel Burow of Comfort Roxan and Steven Mohr of Rockport Cheryl and Glen Stuart of Rochelle 7 grandson, 6 great grandchildren: Kyle and Allison Burow, Mason and Millie, Dustin and Martiny Burow, Matthew and Milla Schuchardt, Noah, Ty and Kathy Mohr, Adalynn and Chance Mohr, Bo and Keri Stuart, Bryer and Hunter and Elizabeth Stuart, Morgan Two sisters, three brothers and spouses: Gladys Kuebel of Kerrville, Ronnie and Connie Schuchardt of Kerrville, Alice Klein and Nathan Crenwelge of Fredericksburg, Richard and Linda Schuchardt of Boerne, Michael and Jeanine Schuchardt of Boerne One step sister in-law and two step brother in-laws: Ronald and Glenda Stehling of Fredericksburg Charles Stehling of Fredericksburg, JoAnn and James Rode of Fredericksburg Known to everyone as “Jimmy”, he graduated from Boerne High School in 1959. Jimmy and Joyce were married for 61 years and had lived in Boerne, Comfort, and Seattle, WA and spent the last 49 years in Fredericksburg. He retired from the Texas Highway Department in 2002 finishing his career at the level of engineer. Jimmy was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, The Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge #794, the United States Army Reserves and the Texas National Guard and was instrumental in bringing little league baseball and girls softball to Fredericksburg in the early 1970’s. He loved hunting and fishing, coaching his girls in many years of summer softball and slow-pitch leagues, camping on the rivers and lakes and gambling at the Lucky Eagle in Eagle Pass. Jimmy and Joyce attended all the activities of their grandsons as they were growing up and now attend those same activities with their great-grandkids. Jimmy loved spending time with the friends of his daughters and grandsons where he was also known as “Pappaw” to them. He was loved by many and will be forever missed.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, November 27th from 3 to 5 P.M. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg There will be a visitation in the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg from 1 to 2 P.M. on Monday, November 28th with a Funeral Service at 2 P.M. by Rev. Bobby Vitek Graveside services and interment will follow in the Comfort Cemetery, Comfort, Texas at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, November 28th In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in his memory to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Comfort or to the charity of your choice.
