Boerne boys start ‘22 season at 2-0

The Boerne High boys basketball team finally kicked off its season last week and played two games, winning over Medina Valley and Highlands.

BHS starts the year at 2-0 and played John Jay at Taylor Field House on Monday.

Vs. Medina Valley

Boerne opened the season in Castroville and beat Medina Valley, 60-39. The Hounds were in double digits all four quarters and hit 20 in the third.

Boerne’s defense held the Panthers to 4 points in the second quarter and that helped give BHS a 26-14 halftime lead.

Barrett Pape had a strong game with 28 points to lead BHS in scoring, Colton Hoegemeyer finished with 13 points, Sam Holland knocked down a pair of 3s and a couple of free throws for 8 points, Trevor Agarwal netted 6, Nic Hernandez had 3 and Noah Patton hit a 2-pointer.

Vs. Highlands

BHS returned home and hosted Highlands and stuffed the Owls, 64-60.

Highlands cut it to two points with 10 seconds left, but the Hounds made both FTs to ice it.

Barrett Pape led the team with 21 points, Colton Hoegemeyer finished with 14, Sam Holland and Trevor Agarwal scored 8 apiece, Casen Hoegemeyer netted 7 and Nic Hernandez hit for 6.
