Betty Jane Rittimann Skeels, 81, of Boerne passed away on Nov. 20, 2022. Betty was born on Dec. 2, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, to Alice Ward Rittimann and Herbert Rittimann. She graduated from Sam Houston High School, and she married Harold A. Skeels on Jan. 6, 1962. They were married for 51 years before his passing. She was a registered childcare giver for over 35 years, known by many in the Boerne community as Grandma Betty. Harold and Betty were happiest when they could spend time with their family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty loved hummingbirds and always made sure they had plenty to eat at her house in the way of flowers and feeders.

She is survived by her siblings, Leroy (Lulabell) Rittimann, Herbert (Silvia) Rittimann, and Shirley (Andy) Foerster; her sister- in-law, Ann Skeels; her sons, Howard Wayne (Bette) Skeels, Jeffrey Allyn (Sandra) Skeels and Allyn Harold (Lori) Skeels; her grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) Skeels, Allison (Michael) Donalson, Devan (Cory) Groenke, Ashley (Nathan) Privett, Robyn Skeels and Laci Skeels; her great grandchildren, Addison Donalson, Abigail Skeels, Emily Groenke, Amelia Skeels, Reese Skeels, Lainey Jo Privett, and James Skeels; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Herbert Rittimann; her husband, Harold Allyn Skeels; her brothers, Howard and Jerome Rittimann; her brothersin- law, Joe and Warren Skeels; and her sisters-inlaw, Norma Johnson and Shirley Rittimann.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice to honor Betty’s memory.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Holt & Holt Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Donalson, Corey Groenke, Nathan Privett, Brian Rittimann, Benny Rittimann, Keith Foerster, Robert Rittimann and Ronnie Rittimann.
