Boerne football team advances to fourth round

JORDANTON – The Boerne football season continues to roll along after the Greyhounds buried the Sandcrabs of Port Lavaca Calhoun Friday in Jourdanton, 51-0.

Friday’s win improves the team to 13-0 and the 13 victories is the most ever by a Greyhound football team, surpassing the 2004 squad that recorded 12 wins.

Boerne High plays in the fourth round against Calallen.

The Greyhounds scored on all five possessions of the first half and took a 34-0 lead into halftime. BHS scored the first time it touched the ball in the third quarter to make it 6 for 6 and built a 41-0 lead by early in the stanza.

Port Lavaca struggled against Boerne’s defense and only had one first down and about 30 total yards of offense in the first half.

Boerne started moving players in and out in the fourth quarter but still scored, while the BHS defensive reserves came in and preserved the shutout.
