Chargers whip Warriors, 70-44

Boerne Champion hosted its 2022-23 home opener on Tuesday night at Charger Gym and improved its record to 2-0 after the Chargers defeated Southwest Legacy.

Champion won Tuesday’s contest against the Titans, 70-44.

The Chargers are back on the court this weekend at the Harlandale Tournament. They opened play on Thursday against John Jay and had two games on Friday.

In Tuesday’s contest, Champion was leading 35-22 at halftime, which means both teams scored the exact number of points in the second half, 35-22, for the final score of 70-44.

Charlie Georgelos went 5 for 8 from the 3-point line and finished with 20 points, Braden Baum hit a pair of 3s and tallied 16 points, Dakarai Hodge was the third Charger in double figures after he scored 12, while Mason Wyatt drained a couple of 3s and finished with 9.

Quinn Grable netted 5, Jackson Marshall and Alex Gonzalez added 3 points apiece, and Justin Hill scored 2.

The Chargers shot 80 percent from the free-throw line after going 8 for 10. 

Georgelos not only led the team in scoring but also in rebounding and assists after he snagged 7 rebounds and tallied 6 assists.

Hodge and Baum grabbed 5 boards each and Wyatt dished out 4 assists.
