Both the Boerne High boys and girls soccer teams opened district play last Tuesday against Fredericksburg.
The Lady Greyhounds were at home and the BHS boys were on the road. It was mixed results as the Lady Hounds and Battlin’ Billies played to a tie, while the Boerne boys rolled past Fredericksburg.
Because of the icy conditions, Boerne’s district matches vs. Wimberley were moved to Monday to give the teams three matches this week.
Boys
The BHS boys shutout Fred, 5-0, on Tuesday and they are 1-0 to start district. The Hounds are 9-2-1 overall and they hosted Wimberley Monday, will visit Davenport Tuesday and welcome Canyon Lake Friday.
Landon Murphy finished with 2 goals, while Justin Moore, Sam Theiss and Juan Castro all tallied single goals un the match.
All five goals were assisted after Bryan Fernandez, Brett Hettie, Joe Ballenger, Sam Gonzales and Theiss all picked up assists.
Girls
BHS hosted Fredericksburg on Tuesday and didn’t get the result they were hoping for after they played to a 2-2 tie.
The Lady Hounds are 0-0-1 to start district and 7-2-3 overall. They visited Wimberley Monday, host Davenport Tuesday and play at Canyon Lake Friday.
Boerne had a 1-0 lead for most of the first half but couldn’t hold it in the second half as Fred took advantage of several opportune calls, including a PK late in the game.
Kassie Lozano and A’Marie Ramirez scored single goals, while Taylor Hudson picked up an assist on one of the goals.
