The Boerne Champion boys and girls soccer teams tangled with Veterans Memorial last Tuesday, with the girls at home and the boys on the road.
Champion was supposed to play Kyle Lehman on Friday but those matches were moved to Monday of this week because of the weather that affected the area. The Chargers will also play Seguin and Kerrville Tivy this week for three matches.
Girls
The Lady Chargers crushed Veterans Memorial, 9-0, Tuesday at home in chilly conditions. Champion is 5-2-2 overall and 2-2 in district.
They visited Lehman Monday, host Seguin Tuesday and are on the road Friday at Kerrville Tivy.
Champion scored throughout Tuesday’s match and tallied 3 goals in the first half and 6 in the second half.
Mack Arendall finished with a hat trick and knocked in 3 goals, Han nah Arnall added 2 goals, while Nevaeh Garris, Gabby Dellocono and Addison Huber all netted single goals and then the Lady Patriots recorded an own goal after they tried to clear the ball out of the box but the kick had some backspin and it rolled into the net after it landed.
Garris tallied 2 assists, Avery Case, Shelby Streicher and Grace McClain all recorded single assists each.
Boys
The Champion boys were at Veterans Memorial Tuesday and dropped its third district match in a row after they fell to the Patriots in a defensive struggle, 1-0.
Champion is 2-4-2 overall and 1-3 in district. They hosted Lehman Monday, visit Seguin Tuesday and then welcome Kerrville Tivy Friday.
