Both the Geneva School of Boerne basketball teams opened the 2022 season last week with solid victories. Both continue their seasons this week.
Varsity Boys
The Geneva boys kicked off the year with a win over Austin San Juan Diego, 46-40.
The Eagles led for most of the game and held off the Saints come back. The Eagles were back in action Tuesday night vs. San Antonio St. Anthony.
Chaz Lutz led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points, Griffin Freiling added 9 points, while Spencer Yarborough and Jack Walker Harden both chipped in with 6 points to start the Eagles at 1-0.
Varsity Girls
The Eagles rolled past Austin Regents, 77-31, to tip off the year at 1-0. They played Mason on Tuesday.
Maegan Riebel led the team with 23 points, Tessa Murphy added 13 and Kyra Petty tallied 12 as three Eagles finished in double digits.
Madeline Egbert scored 7, Hailey Kirchner and Bryn Riebel both netted 6, while Morgan Howard and Suzie Nilsson added 5 each.
Brynn Riebel grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and came up with 5 steals, Egbert had 8 boards and 4 steals, while Kirchner and Petty both snagged 7 rebounds.
