Bears bump Geneva from postseason play

The Geneva School of Boerne volleyball team fell one round shy of advancing to this year’s TAPPS state tournament.

The Geneva School of Boerne volleyball team fell one round shy of advancing to this year’s TAPPS state tournament.

Geneva was knocked out Thursday night by the Austin Brentwood Christian Bears in the regional round in five sets and ends the year at 25-17 overall.

Geneva vs. Houston Cypress Christian

Geneva opened the TAPPS volleyball playoffs Tuesday on the road in Houston against Cypress Christian School.

The Eagles soared past the Houston school in three sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18.

In Tuesday’s match, Kenzie Cates finished with 4 aces and 2 digs, Emily Coultress tallied 11 digs, Abby Bower came up with 4 kills, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 4 aces, Ella Babic recorded 10 kills and 7 digs, Karynn Garrow added 16 kills, 12 digs and 4 aces, Cammy Curtis had 2 blocks and an ace, Ella Owens totaled 28 assists and 10 digs and Lilly Kaiser chipped in with a dig and a kill.

Also, during the match Owens tallied the 1,000th assist of her career and she’s only a freshman.
