Without a chance at a playoff spot, the Boerne High volleyball team was hoping to end its 2022 season on a winning note Tuesday when the Lady Greyhounds hosted archrival Fredericksburg.

It didn’t happen after the Battlin’ Billies defeated the Lady Hounds in straight sets despite a raucous crowd and a stellar effort by the BHS team at Greyhound Gym.

Boerne ends its season at 21-17 overall and 5-7 in district. BHS was the fifth- place team in 27- 4A behind Davenport (12-0), Wimberley ( 8- 4), Fred ( 8- 4) and Navarro (7-5). The top four teams advance to the playoffs.

It’s been a while since Boerne missed the postseason party. In fact, it’s been 12 years since they last missed the playoffs during the 2010 season.

In Tuesday’s match, Jayleen Reyna finished with 11 digs, Tana Lux added 16 assists, 2 aces, 2 digs, 1 kill and 1 block, Madison Morris finished with 11 digs, Ava Rocchio added 5 blocks, Tori Adams tallied 10 kills and 4 digs and Paige Stegall had 4 kills and 3 digs.

Boerne has seven seniors listed on its roster, including Jayleen Reyna, Kashtin Waibel, Tana Lux, Hayden Chappell, Corinne Coale, Madison Morris and Tori Adams.
